Diomandé: controversies already worrying the Madrid press

Strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, Yan Diomandé has still not officially signed his contract with the Spanish giants. Although the transfer appeared to be virtually completed, the young RB Leipzig winger remains in limbo. This unexpected situation is beginning to cause concern in Madrid and has become a major talking point in the Spanish media.

For several weeks, Real Madrid have been presented as the clear favourites to sign the Ivory Coast international. The Spanish club reportedly moved ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, who were also interested in securing his services. However, Diomandé has yet to join José Mourinho’s squad, and the club has still not made any official announcement regarding his arrival.

Diomandé: controversies already worrying the Madrid press

The delay is reportedly linked to a dispute between the player’s former representative, Max-Alain Gradel, and Roc Nation, the agency that currently manages Diomandé’s interests. Journalist Romain Molina recently revealed the existence of this conflict, while several Spanish media outlets have now provided further details about the complicated situation.

According to AS, Max-Alain Gradel has filed a complaint concerning the change in the player’s representation. This legal procedure is believed to be preventing the administrative completion of the transfer. As long as the dispute remains unresolved, the deal may not be officially registered.

The situation has apparently caught Real Madrid’s directors by surprise. The Spanish club reportedly negotiated directly with Roc Nation without being fully aware of the ongoing legal dispute involving Diomandé’s former agent. This late discovery would explain why the winger’s arrival has still not been confirmed.

The case is now generating considerable debate in Spain. AS claims that FIFA regulations could potentially affect the registration of the Ivorian winger. Real Madrid are therefore waiting for a quick resolution to the conflict so that the transfer can be completed and the player can join Mourinho’s squad.

The Spanish newspaper also suggests that FIFA could grant Diomandé a temporary licence. Such an authorisation would allow him to join Real Madrid and begin playing for the club while waiting for the final settlement of the dispute.

Mundo Deportivo has described the matter as an “unexpected problem.” However, journalist Alberto Pereiro, speaking on Onda Cero, offered a more reassuring assessment. According to him, FIFA may have limited power to intervene in a dispute between representatives and may not be able to block the transfer for a prolonged period.

Despite the uncertainty, the overall trend still points towards Diomandé completing his move to Real Madrid. All parties are reportedly confident and continue to work towards finding a quick solution. Nevertheless, the unexpected delay has caused significant media attention in Spain, with the issue being widely discussed in newspapers, radio programmes and late-night sports shows.

Roc Nation has also responded publicly to the reports. In a statement posted on Instagram, the agency criticised what it described as false, harmful and poorly informed claims. It also called on media outlets and journalists to act more responsibly when publishing information involving its clients.

Yan Diomandé’s transfer to Real Madrid therefore remains on track, but supporters may still have to wait before seeing the Ivorian officially unveiled in the famous white shirt.
