Real Madrid vs. Fiorentina: Player Ratings and Analysis

Real Madrid 2-2 Fiorentina: Player Ratings as Endrick and Güler Impress

Real Madrid faced Fiorentina in a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon, with the two teams sharing the spoils after an entertaining 2-2 draw. José Mourinho’s side produced some encouraging moments, particularly in possession and during their high-pressing phases, but defensive mistakes prevented them from securing victory.

Real Madrid vs. Fiorentina: Player Ratings and Analysis

Despite Fiorentina being further ahead in their physical preparation, Real Madrid showed intensity, ambition and a clear desire to recover the ball quickly after losing possession. Several young players also took advantage of the absence of key internationals to make a positive impression.

Here are the Real Madrid player ratings from the match.

PlayerRatingPerformance
Andriy Lunin4/10Once again selected in the absence of Thibaut Courtois, the Ukrainian goalkeeper was beaten by Fiorentina’s first effort on target. He had a relatively quiet match overall but was unable to make a decisive difference on either goal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold6/10The English defender produced an interesting first half. As he did in the training match against Leganés, Trent showed his excellent passing range and ability to move the team forward from deeper areas.
Joan Martínez6.5/10The young centre-back enjoyed a calm opening 45 minutes. He was then required to intervene twice shortly after the restart when Fiorentina increased the pressure. A composed and encouraging performance.
Mario Rivas4/10Rivas made two or three useful defensive interventions, but he was also beaten during both Fiorentina goals. A difficult afternoon despite some promising moments.
Álvaro Carreras5.5/10The left-back showed plenty of attacking initiative during the first half and was rewarded with an assist for the opening goal. However, his influence became more limited after the break.
Eduardo Camavinga6/10Camavinga was active and energetic in midfield. He looked physically ready for the new season and regularly moved forward with purpose. His pass to Ciria in the build-up to Real Madrid’s second goal was particularly effective.
Federico Valverde6/10The Uruguayan looked comfortable in the double pivot. The system allowed him to contribute defensively while also giving him the freedom to make forward runs and support the attack.
Arda Güler7/10Real Madrid’s best player. The Turkish international continued the excellent form he showed in the early training matches. Almost every ball he touched was improved, and his intelligent dummy during the second goal demonstrated his outstanding understanding of the game.
Denzel Dumfries6.5/10The biggest tactical surprise in Mourinho’s starting lineup. Dumfries played as a right winger and provided constant energy. Considering he had completed only a few training sessions, he looked sharp and physically strong.
Alexis Ciria6.5/10The young Madrid player took full advantage of Vinícius Junior’s absence. Playing on the left wing, he was lively, fearless and dangerous. His goal completed a highly encouraging individual display.
Endrick6.5/10Mourinho trusted the Brazilian from the start despite his recent return to training. Endrick rewarded that faith with a genuine striker’s goal. He also pressed aggressively and played with the intensity of a competitive fixture. His attitude was excellent.

Mourinho’s Assessment

It is always difficult to give a coach a precise rating during a friendly, especially when the main objective is to improve fitness and test tactical ideas. However, Mourinho will have been satisfied with his team’s seriousness and intensity.

Real Madrid repeatedly tried to recover possession immediately after losing the ball, while the performances of Güler, Endrick, Ciria and Dumfries provided several encouraging signs. Defensive organisation remains an area to improve, but this 2-2 draw offered Mourinho plenty of useful information ahead of the new season.
