Real unveils its official starting XI against Fiorentina.

Real Madrid have officially announced their starting lineup for the friendly match against Fiorentina at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria. Scheduled for 6:00 p.m., the encounter represents the first major test of the summer preparations for José Mourinho’s team ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

After several weeks of intensive training at Valdebebas and two behind-closed-doors matches against Alcorcón and Leganés, the Portuguese coach can now assess his players against an experienced European opponent. Fiorentina, a club accustomed to the demands of Serie A, should provide a competitive challenge and allow the Madrid coaching staff to evaluate the physical and tactical condition of the squad.

Real Madrid unveils its official starting XI against Fiorentina.

For this match, Mourinho has been forced to work without several important players who have either not yet returned to collective training or are not physically ready to participate. Real Madrid will therefore field a squad combining established first-team players, new signings and promising talents from the club’s academy.

Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Arda Güler are expected to play important roles in midfield. Their ability to control the tempo, recover possession quickly and create opportunities for the forwards will be closely monitored. Valverde, in particular, is likely to take on greater responsibility as one of the main leaders of the team.

The game could also give supporters the opportunity to watch Denzel Dumfries make his first appearance in the famous white shirt. Signed during the summer transfer window, the Dutch international brings strength, experience and attacking energy to the right side of the pitch. His adaptation to Mourinho’s tactical system will be one of the main talking points of Real Madrid’s pre-season campaign.

In attack, Endrick has an excellent opportunity to impress the new coach. After returning from a successful loan spell at Olympique Lyonnais, the young Brazilian wants to prove that he deserves an important place in the attacking rotation. However, he now faces competition from Carlos Espí, the new striker recruited from Levante.

With his impressive physical presence and traditional centre-forward profile, Espí offers Mourinho a different tactical option. The Spanish youngster is capable of playing with his back to goal, competing for aerial balls and providing a strong presence inside the penalty area.

Several academy players will also have the chance to showcase their qualities. Due to the numerous absences in defence, the club’s younger players could receive valuable minutes and demonstrate that they are ready to meet the demands of first-team football.

Beyond the final result, Mourinho will mainly expect his team to show discipline, intensity and commitment. He will want to see aggressive pressing, quick transitions and respect for his tactical instructions.

The match against Fiorentina should therefore help Real Madrid continue building momentum, improve their collective understanding and prepare for the next stages of their pre-season schedule. It is an important first examination for Mourinho and his players, and one that could already provide valuable clues about the identity of the new-look Real Madrid.
