Real Madrd : The team continues to prepare for the season.

Real Madrid continued their preparations for the 2026/27 season with another demanding training session at Ciudad Real Madrid, as José Mourinho’s available players completed the third day of the fourth week of pre-season work.

The session began inside the gym, where the squad carried out a series of physical exercises designed to improve strength, mobility and overall conditioning. With the start of the new campaign drawing closer, Mourinho and his coaching staff continue to place strong emphasis on fitness, intensity and concentration, ensuring that the players are ready to meet the physical demands of the season.

After the opening gym work, the team moved onto the training pitches for the tactical part of the session. The players worked on several key aspects of Mourinho’s game plan, including coordinated pressing, creating space in attacking areas and improving decision-making in the final third. The drills were performed both collectively and individually, allowing the coaching staff to focus on the team’s overall structure while also paying attention to specific technical details.

One of the main objectives of the session was to improve the speed and organisation of the team’s pressing. The players were asked to close down opponents quickly, maintain compact distances between the lines and recover the ball as high up the pitch as possible. Mourinho also encouraged his players to react immediately after losing possession, an important principle in his tactical approach.

The squad also worked on opening spaces against organised defensive blocks. Through movement, passing combinations and positional rotations, the players were challenged to create attacking opportunities in tight areas. These exercises were followed by finishing drills, with the footballers practising shots after collective moves as well as individual actions. The coaching staff demanded precision, speed and composure in front of goal.

To conclude the session, the players took part in a series of small-sided matches on reduced-size pitches. These games increased the intensity of the training and forced the players to make quick decisions under pressure. The smaller spaces encouraged fast passing, aggressive pressing and constant movement, while also giving Mourinho the opportunity to assess the players’ tactical discipline and physical condition.

Several members of the squad continued to follow individual programmes. Dean Huijsen worked inside the facilities before completing a separate session on the pitch. Franco Mastantuono remained indoors, where he continued his specific fitness work.

Meanwhile, Raúl Asencio, Ferland Mendy, Éder Militão and Rodrygo are still progressing through their respective recovery programmes. The medical and technical staff are closely monitoring their development, with the priority being to ensure that each player returns in the best possible condition and without unnecessary risks.

Every session is becoming increasingly important, as the squad must quickly adapt to Mourinho’s methods, build stronger connections between the different lines and establish the competitive mentality required to challenge for every trophy.

Real Madrid will continue their pre-season schedule in the coming days as Mourinho looks to strengthen the team’s fitness, tactical understanding and competitive rhythm ahead of the official start of the 2026/27 campaign.
