Real Madrid are continuing their preparations for the 2026/27 season. José Mourinho’s players completed another double training session at Ciudad Real Madrid, with the first workout taking place in the morning before a particularly intense session in the afternoon.
The day was notably marked by the presence of Vini Jr., Bernardo Silva and Brahim Díaz. The three players recently rejoined the squad after following programmes adapted to their return. Their integration now gives José Mourinho a larger group to work with as he continues to implement his tactical ideas ahead of the start of official competitions.
During the morning session, the coaching staff divided the squad into several groups. The players who started the friendly match against Fiorentina carried out specific exercises, mainly focused on recovery and workload management. After a physically demanding encounter, the objective was to help the starters regain their freshness while maintaining an appropriate level of intensity.
The rest of the squad began the session with a series of physical exercises designed to improve endurance, strength and overall fitness. The players then took part in pressing drills, with particular attention paid to coordinated movement and the rapid recovery of possession.
The workout continued with several attacking combination exercises. The players worked on ball circulation, off-the-ball movement, quick passing in tight spaces and fast combinations near the opposition penalty area. The morning session concluded with finishing drills, giving the forwards and attacking midfielders the opportunity to practise different goalscoring situations.
The afternoon session was characterised by an even higher level of intensity. Mourinho and his coaching staff placed strong emphasis on tactical work, particularly pressing the opposition during both attacking and defensive phases. The Portuguese coach wants his team to be capable of quickly winning the ball back after losing possession while remaining compact and well organised.

The players also contested several small-sided matches on reduced-size pitches. This type of exercise encourages faster execution, technical precision, quick decision-making and greater intensity in individual duels.
Mourinho was therefore able to closely observe how his players reacted in situations similar to those they will face during competitive matches.
As for the players currently unavailable, Dean Huijsen continued with his individual recovery programme. The defender trained inside the facilities before completing ball-free exercises on the pitch. Raúl Asencio, Éder Militão, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo are also continuing their respective rehabilitation programmes.
Real Madrid will continue their preparations over the coming days, with the objective of gradually improving the players’ physical condition, collective understanding and tactical organisation before the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
