At kick-off, José Mourinho once again decided to field a starting XI featuring several young players, including Mario Rivas and Joan Martínez at the heart of the defence. The two academy graduates delivered an impressive first-half performance, with Rivas even finding the back of the net following a cross from Ciria.
Another young Madrid player who started the game once again took full advantage of the opportunity to impress his coach. He looked lively, dangerous and decisive, just as he had against Fiorentina, continuing to strengthen his case during pre-season.
Among the other positives was the excellent form of Arda Güler. The Turkish international has established himself as Real Madrid’s main creative force since the start of pre-season. Operating in the number 10 role, Güler looked extremely comfortable between the lines, dictating the tempo and constantly trying to create opportunities for his teammates.
Fede Valverde also produced a very energetic performance. The Uruguayan midfielder looked sharp throughout his time on the pitch and delivered a superb pass to Carlos Espí, who scored his first goal as a Real Madrid player only seconds after coming on.
It was a memorable moment for the young striker, who immediately made an impact and rewarded Mourinho’s decision to introduce him during the second half.

Bernardo Silva also made his first appearance in a Real Madrid shirt. The Portuguese midfielder initially operated slightly towards the right side before later switching positions with Arda Güler. His first minutes offered an early glimpse of how Mourinho could use his versatility in different attacking and midfield roles this season.
Endrick was another player given some minutes during the second half. The Brazilian forward featured on the right side of the attack, showing Mourinho’s willingness to test him in different positions during the preparation period.
Overall, Real Madrid leave Hungary with another encouraging result. The 2-1 victory over Ferencváros provided Mourinho with further opportunities to assess his youngsters, integrate new signings and continue refining his tactical ideas ahead of the start of the competitive season.
