Real Madrid will continue their pre-season preparations this Saturday when they face Hungarian side Ferencváros in what will be their second major friendly encounter of the summer.
The Spanish giants are gradually stepping up their preparations ahead of the start of the new La Liga campaign, which is scheduled to begin on August 22 against Espanyol. José Mourinho and his coaching staff are using these early weeks to assess the squad, improve fitness levels and give several young players an opportunity to prove themselves before the competitive season officially gets underway.
Not all of Real Madrid’s international players have returned to training yet following their summer commitments. However, the squad is expected to receive a major boost in the coming days, with stars such as Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham among those expected back at Valdebebas on Monday.
Before then, Real Madrid will travel to face Ferencváros on Saturday. The match will represent another important test for Mourinho’s team before two further friendlies scheduled later in August. Madrid are expected to face Deportivo La Coruña on August 12 before taking on Schalke 04 a few days later.
Real Madrid have already played several preparation matches this summer. Their first outings came against local opposition, with the team defeating Alcorcón 1-0 before recording a convincing 4-1 victory over Leganés. Federico Valverde, Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo were among the players who found the back of the net during those early encounters.
Mourinho’s men were then held to a 2-2 draw by Fiorentina, providing the coaching staff with another opportunity to evaluate the physical and tactical condition of the squad.
For the upcoming meeting with Ferencváros, Mourinho has announced his latest squad list, which includes several notable additions.
One of the biggest pieces of positive news is the return of Dean Huijsen, who missed the previous game. Antonio Rüdiger has also been included, while summer signing Bernardo Silva is part of the midfield selection. Vinícius Júnior and Brahim Díaz are available in attack, giving Mourinho additional experience and creativity in the final third.

The coach has once again decided to rely heavily on young players from Real Madrid’s academy. Javi Navarro, who impressed with his performances in the UEFA Youth League, is among the youngsters selected.
