Marc Cucurella completed his first training session as a Real Madrid player and, after working alongside his new teammates, the Spanish defender shared his first impressions with Realmadrid TV. The new signing expressed his happiness at finally joining the club after a long wait and made it clear that he is determined to help the team achieve major success.
“I’m very happy. It took some time and the wait was long, but I’m finally here,” Cucurella said. “Today I trained with my teammates, met everyone, and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better little by little. Hopefully, this will be a fantastic year.”
For Cucurella, wearing the Real Madrid shirt represents one of the biggest achievements of his career. The defender highlighted the club’s extraordinary history and the legendary players who have represented it over the years.
“It’s a source of pride. I think very few people can say they have worn this shirt,” he explained. “We have seen great legends here. This is a club with so much history and, for me, the biggest club in Europe. Being here today is a privilege, an honour and, above all, a reward for all the effort I have made throughout my career.”
A Warm Welcome From His Teammates
Cucurella also spoke positively about his first contact with the Real Madrid dressing room. Some players had already contacted him before his arrival, helping him feel comfortable from the very beginning.
“Everything went very well. I was really looking forward to meeting them. I had already spoken to some teammates who had written to me, and the welcome was very warm,” he said. “It was a difficult and long day, but I’m already starting to find my feet and get back into training because the important games are coming very soon.”
Working Under Mourinho
Asked about José Mourinho, Cucurella stressed the confidence and freedom the Portuguese coach gives his players.
“He gives us a lot of confidence and wants everything to feel natural. We have to do on the pitch what we know how to do and, above all, enjoy ourselves. I think what we all want is to win and make this a great year.”
Describing what he can bring to the team, Cucurella pointed to his intensity, personality and work ethic.
“Intensity, character, happiness—a little bit of everything. I’m a very hard-working person. With players of this quality, if we stay united and build a strong team both on and off the pitch, I think we can achieve great things.”

Cucurella admitted that the opportunity to join Real Madrid was simply impossible to turn down.
“As a player, and as a child who starts playing football, having the opportunity to play for a club like this is very difficult to refuse. When the opportunity came, I had no doubts.”
He also recalled watching Real Madrid’s legendary Champions League nights and dramatic comebacks at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“To now have the chance to experience those moments in person and be part of them is a huge responsibility, but also a beautiful and important challenge.”
Finally, Cucurella sent a message to the supporters: “Hello Madridistas, I’m finally here. I can’t wait to meet you all. It has been an incredible first day, and we hope to work very hard so that this can be a great year and we can all enjoy it together.”
