Real Madrid have officially presented Dutch international Denzel Dumfries, 30, as one of their new signings, 47 days after the club first announced that an agreement had been reached for his transfer. The defender took part in an institutional ceremony alongside club president Florentino Pérez, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Dumfries attended the presentation with Real Madrid honorary representatives, including Emilio Butragueño, as well as members of his family. During the ceremony, the Dutchman watched a video featuring some of the best moments of his career before receiving several gifts from the club president and formally signing his contract.
With his signature, Dumfries has committed his future to Real Madrid until 2030.
Speaking through the club’s official media, the former Inter Milan star expressed his pride and excitement at joining the Spanish giants.
“For anyone, playing for Real Madrid is a dream. Being here comes with a great responsibility, of course, because we have important objectives. I am very proud and very happy. I am ready to get started,” Dumfries said.
The Netherlands international had already joined Real Madrid training on July 28 and made his unofficial debut during the club’s pre-season campaign against Fiorentina, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Following the departure of Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid moved to strengthen the right side of their defence with an experienced player capable of immediately taking on a major role. Dumfries arrives in the Spanish capital with significant experience at the highest level of European football.
However, he will face strong competition from Trent Alexander-Arnold. With both players available, José Mourinho now has two high-quality and versatile options at right-back. The Portuguese coach has even tested Dumfries and Alexander-Arnold together on the pitch on two occasions during pre-season.
Dumfries leaves Inter Milan after an impressive spell in Italy. During his time with the Nerazzurri, he made 207 appearances, scoring 27 goals and providing 28 assists.

One of the most memorable performances of his Inter career came in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. The powerful Dutch wing-back played a decisive role across the tie, demonstrating his attacking qualities and ability to influence major European matches.
Across five seasons in Milan, Dumfries established himself as one of the most complete players in his position, combining physical strength, speed, defensive intensity and a constant attacking threat.
He now arrives at the Santiago Bernabéu with the difficult responsibility of helping Real Madrid move forward following the departure of a club legend like Carvajal. Mourinho’s tactical approach, however, could prove particularly well suited to Dumfries’ energetic and aggressive style.
After completing his official presentation, Dumfries is now fully focused on making his competitive debut for Real Madrid. His first official appearance could come against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, as the Spanish giants begin their new La Liga campaign with another major summer signing ready to make his mark.
