Real Madrid Arrive in Barcelona Ahead of Espanyol Clash

Real Madrid have already arrived in Barcelona, where they will face Espanyol this evening in their opening match of the new La Liga campaign. José Mourinho’s squad travelled to the Catalan capital earlier today as preparations enter their final stage ahead of the highly anticipated encounter at the RCDE Stadium.

The Madrid delegation left Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in the morning and headed directly to Barcelona. After a flight lasting just over an hour, the players, coaching staff and club representatives landed safely in the Catalan capital before continuing their journey to the team hotel.

Real Madrid will stay at the Torre Melina Hotel, where the entire squad will remain together and focused until the time comes to leave for the RCDE Stadium. Mourinho and his staff want the players fully concentrated on the challenge ahead, with no distractions before what will be the club’s first official league appearance of the 2026/27 season.

Despite the match being part of the second round of La Liga, it represents Real Madrid’s first league fixture of the campaign. The Spanish giants will therefore be looking to make an immediate statement and begin the season with three important points away from home.

The atmosphere surrounding the squad is one of focus and determination. Following several weeks of preparation and a busy pre-season, Mourinho will finally have the opportunity to see his team in competitive action. Several new signings could also make their official La Liga debuts in the famous white shirt.

Espanyol, however, are expected to provide a difficult challenge, especially at home in front of their supporters. The Catalan side have already started their league campaign positively and will be motivated to cause problems for one of the championship’s main title contenders.

Real Madrid know that starting well could prove extremely important in what promises to be a demanding season. After major changes to the squad during the summer transfer window, attention now turns completely to performances on the pitch.

Mourinho has spent the final training sessions working on tactical organisation, pressing, possession and finishing. The Portuguese coach will now have to make his final decisions regarding the starting eleven before the players leave the hotel for the stadium.

The match will take place at the RCDE Stadium at 9:30 p.m., with Real Madrid aiming to begin their La Liga journey with victory. The encounter will be broadcast on Orange TV and DAZN.

For Madrid supporters, the long wait is finally over. The team is in Barcelona, the preparations are complete, and everything is ready for Real Madrid to officially launch their 2026/27 La Liga campaign against Espanyol.
