Bernardo Silva has officially been presented as a new Real Madrid player. The ceremony took place behind closed doors, a format that the Spanish giants will also use for the presentation of their other summer signings.
One month after Real Madrid officially announced his transfer, Bernardo Silva finally took part in a small institutional ceremony alongside club president Florentino Pérez. Unlike the spectacular presentations traditionally held at the Santiago Bernabéu, the club has decided to organize this season’s welcome events privately.
Only Florentino Pérez, honorary president Pirri, members of the club and the player’s closest relatives were present for the ceremony. It was an intimate moment for the Portuguese midfielder, who signed the contract that will keep him at Real Madrid until June 2028.
Standing in front of the club’s impressive collection of 15 European Cups, Bernardo Silva spoke to Real Madrid TV about his emotions after officially becoming a Madrid player.
His first impressions
“I’m very happy. When you arrive here, you’re in this room with the president and they show you all the trophies, you really understand what this club represents. I already knew how big Real Madrid was, but when you experience it in person, you feel it even more. I’m extremely happy to have the opportunity to play for this club.”
For Bernardo Silva, joining Real Madrid also represents the fulfilment of a childhood ambition.
“Since you’re a little kid, even before you know whether you’re going to become a professional footballer or not, you dream of playing for a club like Real Madrid. Being here, playing for this club, trying to win trophies and continuing Real Madrid’s winning history is something very special. I’m really very happy.”
The Bernabéu and the 15 Champions League trophies
The Portuguese international already knows the Santiago Bernabéu well, having played there several times during his career. However, representing Real Madrid at the iconic stadium will now give him an entirely different feeling.
“I’ve already played at the Bernabéu several times. But when you come here and see all these trophies displayed in front of you, it’s very impressive. Having them right there in front of me is special.”
Bernardo Silva was particularly struck by Real Madrid’s extraordinary record in European football.
“Playing for a club that has won 15 Champions League titles is not something everyone gets to do. I’m very proud. Now I’m going to give everything I have for this club.”

A message to the Madridistas
Finally, Bernardo Silva addressed Real Madrid supporters, expressing his excitement about finally meeting them and playing in front of them at the Bernabéu.
“I’m very happy to be with you. I can’t wait to play at the Bernabéu and meet all of you. We have to work hard to win and continue winning trophies because that is what this club is used to doing.”
The message is clear: Bernardo Silva arrives in Madrid with ambition, experience and one objective above all — to help Real Madrid continue adding trophies to its legendary history.
