Real Madrid’s probable eleven against Ferencvaros.

Real Madrid continue their pre-season preparations this Saturday with a second friendly match against Ferencváros in Budapest, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

One week after being held to a draw by Fiorentina, José Mourinho will once again use the encounter to test several players and continue shaping his team ahead of the start of the competitive season. This time, however, a number of senior players are expected to receive more minutes on the pitch.

Vinicius and Bernardo Silva Set to Feature

Vinicius Junior is expected to start on the left wing. The Brazilian has recently extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2032 and can now return to action with greater peace of mind following several turbulent weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

With his long-term future finally settled, Vinicius will be looking to regain his rhythm and play an important role in Mourinho’s attacking plans ahead of the new campaign.

The other major new face in the starting lineup could be Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese midfielder is expected to play his first minutes in a Real Madrid shirt following his arrival at the club.

The friendly will give Mourinho an early opportunity to assess how his new signing fits into the team’s tactical system and, more importantly, which midfielders and attacking players can develop the strongest understanding with him.

Bernardo’s technical quality, experience and versatility could provide the Portuguese coach with several different tactical options as Real Madrid continue to build their identity for the season ahead.

Mourinho will also welcome several important returns in defence. Antonio Rüdiger and Dean Huijsen are available again, while Brahim Díaz has also rejoined the squad following his participation in the World Cup.

Those returns give Mourinho significantly more options, particularly in a defensive department that had been heavily affected by absences during the opening weeks of pre-season.

Diomandé Will Have to Wait

Yan Diomandé, however, will not make his Real Madrid debut in Budapest.

The new signing did not travel with the squad to Hungary after completing his medical examination on Friday and taking part in his first individual training session in Madrid.

The highly anticipated forward will therefore have to wait a little longer before making his first appearance in a Real Madrid shirt.

Competition for the Number Nine Role

Up front, the battle for the centre-forward position remains wide open.

Endrick and Carlos Espí are competing for the number nine role and should both receive another opportunity to impress Mourinho against Ferencváros.

With several attacking places still up for grabs, every pre-season appearance could prove important as Mourinho continues to evaluate his options ahead of the start of the official campaign.

The Portuguese coach is also expected to continue relying on several players from Real Madrid’s academy.

Joan Martínez, Lamini, Mario Rivas, Cestero, Lacosta, Yáñez and Alexis Ciria are all part of the squad and could once again be given valuable minutes in Budapest.

The match against Ferencváros therefore represents another important step in Real Madrid‘s preparation. Beyond the result, Mourinho will be focused on improving the team’s physical condition, testing new tactical combinations and gradually defining the hierarchy within his squad before competitive football returns.
