Real Madrid : Zinédine Zidane gives an update on Mbappé.

Zinedine Zidane enjoyed a winning start as head coach of the French national team, but Kylian Mbappé’s injury cast a major shadow over what should have been a perfect evening for Les Bleus.

France secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Turkey in a highly competitive encounter, with both teams battling intensely from the opening whistle. Turkey, inspired by an excellent Arda Güler, caused the French defence plenty of problems and showed why they remain a dangerous opponent.

However, when France needed a decisive moment, their captain Kylian Mbappé once again stepped up.

The Real Madrid forward scored the only goal of the match after being perfectly set up by Michael Olise. Mbappé found the space he needed inside the attacking area and produced the finish that ultimately separated the two teams.

Unfortunately for France, the joy did not last long.

Mbappé appeared to hurt himself during the very action that resulted in the goal. Moments later, the French superstar was forced to leave the pitch, immediately raising concerns both within the France camp and at Real Madrid.

The striker was later seen on the sidelines looking visibly worried and complaining of pain in his left knee. His reaction quickly became one of the main talking points of the evening, overshadowing Zidane’s first victory in charge of the national team.

Further medical examinations are now expected to determine the exact extent of the injury. Mbappé’s return to Madrid has already been confirmed, with the French Football Federation announcing that the forward will leave the national-team camp and continue his assessment and treatment with Real Madrid.

Speaking after the match, Zidane delivered an initial update that was far from reassuring.

“Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good. I think he’s going to have to go back. We’re not going to take any risks. He suffered a hyperextension of the knee when he took the shot,” the France coach explained.

Those comments immediately increased concerns over Mbappé’s availability for Real Madrid’s upcoming matches.

In its official statement confirming the player’s departure from the squad, the French national team referred to the problem as a tendon injury. However, a complete diagnosis is still expected once Mbappé undergoes additional tests in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid’s medical staff will now take charge of the situation and determine the most appropriate treatment plan. The club will also be hoping that the injury is not as serious as initially feared, especially given Mbappé’s importance to the team.

For Zidane, the evening therefore produced mixed emotions. His first match in charge of Les Bleus ended with a victory and a clean sheet against a competitive Turkish side, providing him with an encouraging start to his new role.

But the injury to France’s captain and biggest attacking star means the result has almost become secondary.

France may have won the match, but all eyes are now on Kylian Mbappé’s left knee and the results of the medical examinations awaiting him in Madrid.
