PSG Transfer Market: Pierre Ménès slams Yan Diomandé.

French journalist Pierre Ménès did not hold back when discussing Yan Diomandé, the highly rated Ivorian winger whose name had been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain for several weeks.

The 19-year-old attacker has attracted considerable attention due to his performances in Germany and his enormous potential. However, the transfer fees mentioned around a possible move to PSG have raised questions, particularly for Pierre Ménès, who believes the figures being discussed are excessive for a player who is still at the beginning of his professional career.

“The reported prices are far too high”

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ménès criticised the huge amounts associated with Diomandé’s potential transfer to the French champions.

“The reported prices are far too high for a 19-year-old kid who plays for a fairly average club in Germany.”

According to the journalist, the excitement surrounding the young Ivorian has caused his valuation to rise too quickly. Although Diomandé is considered one of the most promising African talents of his generation, Ménès believes that paying such an enormous transfer fee would represent a significant risk.

At just 19, the winger still has plenty of room for improvement. His speed, dribbling ability and explosiveness have impressed several major European clubs, but Ménès feels that the player has not yet shown enough consistency or tactical maturity to justify the reported valuation.

Ménès then questioned Diomandé’s current level and his ability to fit into PSG’s tactical system.

“For now, he seems very limited tactically. At the moment, I don’t understand the hype, because he is a player who is better on the left, and on the left at PSG, you already have Kvaratskhelia, Barcola and sometimes Doué.”

The competition on PSG’s left wing is indeed extremely strong. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is regarded as one of the team’s most important attacking players, while Bradley Barcola has continued to develop and establish himself at the highest level. Désiré Doué is also capable of operating in that position.

For Ménès, signing Diomandé would therefore create another selection problem without necessarily responding to an urgent need in the squad. The Ivorian would have to compete with several talented and more experienced players for regular playing time.

The journalist also revealed that he preferred another attacking profile for PSG.

“I don’t understand. I thought Summerville, who went to Al Hilal, was a better fit for PSG.”

Ménès believes that Summerville’s qualities would have been more suited to the Parisian club’s sporting project. His experience, technical ability and versatility may have offered PSG a more immediate solution.

Despite these harsh comments, Yan Diomandé remains one of the most exciting young players on the European market. His potential continues to attract major clubs, but Pierre Ménès remains unconvinced by the enormous hype and the transfer fees surrounding the Ivorian international.
