Real Madrid are preparing to begin a new season with José Mourinho on the bench and a highly motivated Kylian Mbappé determined to bring major trophies back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The French superstar, who is entering his third season with Real Madrid, spoke to the club’s official media after returning to Valdebebas this week and beginning work with his teammates and the new coaching staff.
“I feel very good. I’m happy to be back, to have my first feelings with the team, with the new staff, with my teammates and with the people at Valdebebas. It’s always good to come back here to play and prepare for the season,” Mbappé explained.
One of the biggest changes for Real Madrid this summer is the arrival of José Mourinho. Mbappé revealed that the two had already held several conversations during the World Cup and have continued exchanging ideas since returning to Madrid.
“We talked a lot during the World Cup and also over the last few days here. It’s very positive to have a coach like him, someone who knows how to win and knows the direction we need to take to win. As players, we are delighted to have a coach who knows where he is going. I think it’s very positive for us.”
For Mbappé, pre-season is a crucial period to build fitness before competitive football returns.
“I try to give my maximum because this is the moment when we can work the most. Once the matches begin, it becomes more about managing the workload. Now is the time to push hard, get the right feelings and be ready for the first La Liga game.”
When asked about his objectives for the new campaign, Mbappé’s answer was clear: trophies.
“I think we have to win. This year we are going to win trophies. I’m sure we will win trophies again. That’s what we want and it will happen because I can feel that the team wants it. We will stay focused all year to make the Madridistas happy.”
Two years ago, Mbappé made his Real Madrid debut against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup, scoring in a memorable victory.
“It was a very special day. Your first game with a new team is always special, and when that team is Real Madrid, it means something even more magical. It was a final, I scored, we won a trophy and everything was perfect.”

Since arriving in Spain, the Frenchman believes he has grown both personally and professionally.
“These two years brought many changes because it was the first time I had left my country. The experience has been very positive. I love the club, playing in La Liga and living in Madrid. Now I think it’s time to take another step forward and win trophies.”
Mbappé concluded with a strong message to supporters.
“Thank you for all the support you have given us during my two years here. I know this season will be even more important and that we are going to achieve great things together. We have to be ready — and we are.”
