Carlos Espí experienced an unforgettable moment as he made his first appearance for Real Madrid during the friendly match against Fiorentina at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria.
The young striker, who recently completed his move to the Spanish giants, was introduced during the second half of the encounter. Despite having spent very little time training with his new teammates, Espí was immediately given the opportunity to wear the famous white shirt and take his first steps as a Real Madrid player.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, the forward struggled to hide his excitement and pride following what he described as a truly unique experience.
“Making my debut with Real Madrid today is something unique,” Carlos Espí said. “It is an immense source of pride, and I am extremely happy.”
The striker has experienced an incredible few days. His transfer was completed quickly, and almost immediately after arriving at the club, he joined his new teammates in training before being included in the squad for the friendly against Fiorentina.
“It is difficult to explain everything that has happened in just two days,” he admitted. “I signed for the club, completed my first training session and then made my debut almost immediately. Everything happened so quickly.”
Espí’s first appearance came in a match in which Real Madrid were looking to find a winning goal. With the score level, the coaching staff wanted the new striker to provide a stronger presence inside the penalty area and create problems for the Fiorentina defence.
The forward also revealed the instructions he received from the coach before entering the pitch.
“Because the match was level, he asked me to stay inside the penalty area, try to win and recover balls, and attack the available spaces,” Espí explained. “He simply asked me to give everything I had.”
Although he was unable to mark his debut with a goal, Espí showed energy, determination and a willingness to compete for every ball. His physical presence gave Real Madrid a different option in attack during the final stages of the match.
The new signing also spoke positively about his first experience alongside his Real Madrid teammates. Having trained with the squad for only one day, he acknowledged that he still needs time to understand their movements and adapt to the team’s playing style.

“It is incredible,” he said. “This was my first match, and I had only been training with them for one day. You have to find your bearings and gradually understand everything, but I am very happy.”
For Carlos Espí, the friendly against Fiorentina represented only the beginning of a new and exciting chapter. The striker will now be hoping to use the remainder of the pre-season to improve his fitness, build chemistry with his teammates and convince the coaching staff that he deserves more opportunities.
His debut may have come sooner than expected, but Espí’s enthusiasm and determination suggest that he is ready to embrace the enormous challenge of representing Real Madrid.
