Camavinga’s Situation at Real Madrid Is Becoming Complicated

With only a few weeks remaining before the start of the new season, Eduardo Camavinga has yet to send the reassuring signals Real Madrid’s coaching staff had been hoping to see during pre-season.

Since the beginning of the summer preparations, José Mourinho has shown considerable faith in the French midfielder. Camavinga started the friendly matches against Alcorcón and Leganés, taking advantage of the absence of several international players who were still on holiday following the World Cup.

His struggles eventually cost him a place in France’s squad for the World Cup, a major personal disappointment for a player who had previously been considered one of the national team’s most promising midfielders.

The Frenchman hoped to use this summer to make a fresh start and convince Mourinho that he deserved a central role in the new project. After his first three friendly appearances, however, the expected improvement has not yet been evident.

His situation could become even more complicated in the coming weeks. The players who participated in the World Cup are gradually returning to training, meaning that Mourinho will soon have more options available. As the squad becomes stronger, the number of places in the starting eleven will inevitably decrease.

There is also the possibility of another major arrival in midfield. Real Madrid are reportedly making progress in their pursuit of Rodri Hernández. Should the Spanish international complete a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, competition in the middle of the pitch would increase significantly.

Rodri’s arrival would give Mourinho an experienced defensive midfielder capable of controlling matches, protecting the defence and dictating the tempo. Camavinga would then have to compete not only with the club’s current midfielders but also with one of the best players in his position.

Under these circumstances, Camavinga’s future at Real Madrid could become a genuine talking point before the summer transfer window closes. The midfielder has already informed the club’s management that he has no intention of leaving this summer. He remains determined to fight for his place and prove that he can still succeed in Madrid.

However, the next few matches may prove decisive. Camavinga must quickly rediscover consistency, confidence and authority if he wants to remain an important part of Mourinho’s plans. Otherwise, his position at the club could become increasingly uncertain as the new season approaches.
