Bernardo: “I am very happy to have made my debut with Real.”

Bernardo Silva expressed his delight after making his first appearance as a Real Madrid player during the club’s victory over Ferencvaros in their second pre-season friendly at the Ferencváros Stadion in Budapest.

The Portuguese midfielder came on after the break and played 48 minutes, getting his first taste of action in the famous white shirt. After the final whistle, Bernardo spoke to Realmadrid TV about his debut, his first days at the club and the role he hopes to play during the upcoming season.

“I’m very happy,” Bernardo said. “This match was very important to prepare for the season and, personally, I’m extremely pleased to have made my debut for Real Madrid.”

The experienced midfielder only recently joined the squad and is still adapting to his new surroundings. Nevertheless, he believes these pre-season matches are essential to building fitness, understanding his teammates and reaching the required competitive level before the official campaign begins.

“It’s only my first week, but I’m very happy,” he explained. “There are still many things we need to improve, but the most important thing is to build rhythm so that we can start the season well, and that is exactly what we are doing.”

Bernardo Silva Highlights His Versatility

One of Bernardo Silva’s greatest strengths throughout his career has been his ability to operate in several positions across midfield and attack. The Portuguese international stressed that he is prepared to adapt his game depending on what Real Madrid and the coaching staff require from him.

“I always try to give the team what it needs at every moment,” Bernardo said. “Sometimes that means being more involved in the build-up, while at other times it means playing higher up the pitch, pressing the opposition or contributing in the final third.”

“I’m a player who tries to help in different positions, and I’ll be there to help Real Madrid as much as possible.”

His technical quality, tactical intelligence and experience could provide Real Madrid with several different options during the season. Whether operating deeper in midfield, between the lines or closer to the opposition penalty area, Bernardo is determined to contribute wherever necessary.

Bernardo also reflected on his first week with his new teammates, admitting that the opening days have been demanding but extremely positive.

“It has been difficult, but I’m very happy to have started,” he said. “I’m trying to get to know my teammates because it’s very important to understand each player’s characteristics and know what they like to do during matches and training sessions.”

Developing that understanding will be one of Bernardo’s main objectives throughout the remainder of pre-season. The midfielder knows that building chemistry with his teammates will be crucial if he is to quickly settle into Real Madrid’s system.

“I’ll be here over the next few weeks, preparing myself as much as possible so that I can start the season in the best possible way,” Bernardo concluded.

After completing his first 48 minutes for Real Madrid, Bernardo Silva can now focus on continuing his physical preparation and strengthening his connection with the rest of the squad ahead of the start of the competitive season.
