Real Madrid have officially announced their squad for the upcoming La Liga clash against Malaga at the Santiago Bernabéu. José Mourinho has selected a strong group as Los Blancos look to continue their positive start to the 2026/27 season and secure another important three points in front of their home supporters.
The Spanish giants head into the fixture with confidence following their latest performances in the league. Mourinho’s side has shown encouraging signs both offensively and defensively, although the Portuguese coach is still dealing with several absences due to injury.
In goal, Thibaut Courtois remains the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, while Andriy Lunin and Fran González provide Mourinho with additional options between the posts.
The defensive department includes several important players such as Ibrahima Konaté, Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rüdiger, Denzel Dumfries, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Marc Cucurella and Álvaro Carreras. Mourinho has plenty of alternatives available in defence and could make some changes after a demanding start to the season.
The Real Madrid coach has already confirmed that Cucurella is expected to start against Malaga, with Álvaro Carreras likely to begin the match on the bench. Mourinho explained that managing the physical condition of his players will be crucial during this busy period of the campaign.
In midfield, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Güler and Bernardo Silva are among the main options available to Mourinho. Their creativity and ability to control the tempo of the game could prove decisive against a Malaga team expected to defend with intensity at the Bernabéu.
Real Madrid’s attacking department will once again be led by Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior. Mbappé has started the season in impressive form and remains one of Madrid’s biggest threats in front of goal. Brahim Díaz, Yan Diomandé and Carlos Espí also offer Mourinho different possibilities in the final third.
Diomandé continues to work his way towards full fitness after arriving at Real Madrid following a complicated summer. Mourinho stressed during his pre-match press conference that the winger is making progress gradually after joining the club without having completed a proper pre-season with RB Leipzig.
Several players, however, remain unavailable. Éder Militão, Rodrygo and Ferland Mendy continue their respective recovery programmes, while Raúl Asencio is also dealing with physical problems.
